In a rural mountainous town located in the heart of the Black Hills, an area where dense green pine trees contrast the sun beams bouncing off the shimmering lakes, an area where people of all ages and cultures gather to hike, fish, swim, and simply enjoy the outdoors come together, creativity was sparked. Growing up I lived with my two brothers and my mom and dad. With my mom being interested in fine arts and my dad in building new features for our house, I grew up in an environment where creative ideas were expressed. Watching my parents build and design, I was drawn to build things that affect people for the better. The spaces we are surrounded by impact the way our day starts and ends, our journey on our way to work, our habits at work, even how we interact with others, these things are all affected by the spaces we are surrounded by. Every single detail of a space affects the users and can impact them in one way or another. This all heavily piqued my interest.
When I finally got started with architecture school, I found it suited my ability to problem solve and create incredibly well. Learning to hand draw really set a foundation for how architecture can be read, and how it can speak to the reader. I then got my hands on Revit and Rhino, and while many people have stuck with only using those programs, I decided to teach myself Blender on top. Things my peers thought to be impossible to model, I can achieve in minutes. My love to learn more about 3D modelling allows me to create conceptual designs faster and create unique illustrations.
